Maharaj is a bold and extended display typeface for the Devanagari script, inspired by flat brush strokes set at a 0-degree angle.
Its high contrast and bracketed serifs evoke strength and sophistication, while rounded corners add warmth and elegance. Balancing authority with approachability, Maharaj is perfect for impactful headlines, logos, and displays that demand both dignity and style.

The process began with flat nib brush explorations to study the style and strokes of the typeface. Then, graph paper construction was used to build the basic structure and proportions. After creating the character skeletons, the designs were digitized on Glyphs software. The vowels, consonants, vowel signs, punctuations, and numerals were then developed, followed by kerning adjustments for better spacing and readability. Finally, tests were conducted to ensure consistency and usability of the typeface.
